The Matariki Festival at Te Papa, now in its ninth year, continues to entertain, educate and inspire with a dynamic events programme that will appeal to all. Highlights include the Toi Iho™ visual artist showcase, StoryPlace sessions, Matariki Starlab sessions, Te Huka a- Tai Matariki Wha-nau day, along with live performances by Rhombus and Electric Wire Hustle, plus much more.

Colossal Squid ExhibitionThe only colossal squid exhibit in the world is now open to the public. The 495 kilogram, 4.2 metre female colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni), the most massive invertebrate ever examined, will be on display at Te Papa for three years.
The colossal squid was defrosted and dissected at Te Papa earlier this year.
